The jury of the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, led by Garrick Ohlsson, selected 11 talented pianists for the grand finale. Poland’s Piotr Alexewicz carries his nation’s hopes as the only local contender to advance.

The announcement confirmed the finalists for one of the world’s most renowned piano contests, hosted in Warsaw. Founded in 1927, the competition remains a cornerstone of classical music, dedicated entirely to the works of Fryderyk Chopin. Generations of musicians have viewed participation as both an honor and a test of artistry.

Eleven Artists Vie for Classical Glory

The finalists include Kevin Chen (Canada), David Khrikuli (Georgia), Shiori Kuwahara (Japan), Tianyou Li (China), Eric Lu (United States), Tianyao Lyu (China), Vincent Ong (Malaysia), Miyu Shindo (Japan), Zitong Wang (China), and William Yang (United States), alongside Piotr Alexewicz.

Each performer will present Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61, followed by one of two Chopin concertos — E minor, Op. 11 or F minor, Op. 21 — accompanied by the National Philharmonic Orchestra under Andrzej Boreyka.

The final performances will take place between October 18 and 20, with sessions beginning at 6 p.m. each evening.

Champion to Earn Top Prize and Global Acclaim

The eventual winner will receive a €60,000 cash prize and a gold medal, securing a place among the great interpreters of Chopin’s music.

This year’s competition draws immense international attention, with audiences anticipating moments of brilliance and emotion on Warsaw’s grandest stage.

As the pianists prepare for their defining performances, the city once again becomes the heartbeat of classical excellence, celebrating artistry, discipline, and the timeless genius of Chopin.
